Position Summary

The Sales Assistant is an entry level position. This position is the perfect role for an individual that possesses a positive attitude and willingness to learn. As a sales assistant, the ideal candidate will have on-the-job training to eventually become a successful Inside Sales Representative. A main responsibility of this role will be to provide clerical support to the team of sales representatives as well as the sales manager. This position will also answer incoming calls, and route to appropriate department and/or person.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Answer incoming calls and distribute to appropriate person and/or department

· Check orders thoroughly before they are sent to the shop floor

· Assist sales in tracking down paperwork

· Data entry utilizing excel spreadsheets

· Typing overflow quotes and orders for all inside sales team members

· Filing of weekly quotes and sales orders

· Other duties assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

· High school diploma/GED

· Previous Inside/Outside Sales experience

· Industry knowledge is a plus

· Proficient with ERP software or similar database

· Excellent written and verbal communication

· Superb organizational skills

· Exceptional customer service and the ability to navigate through problems to come to a reasonable solution

· Strong listening and sales skills

· Strong attention to detail

Education and Experience

· High School Diploma and/or GED

· 1-2 years’ experience of sales, preferably in the steel industry

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The following environment/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position.

· Exposure to noise, chemicals, and materials due to shop environment

· Office environment-predominately sedentary

· Occasional standing, walking, and lifting; at least 20 lbs.
